Designed for a very lovable young-at-heart couple, this apartment was customised end-to-end keeping their every single need in mind, down to the last spoon and piece of cloth! Adapting to apartment-life from independent-home life so late in life was a challenge on it’s own. Added to this was the challenge of fitting an entire lifetime’s worth of belongings and memories into a 1750 sft space!

The predominant theme of this interior was inspired by the traditional Chettinad style of architecture. The client already owned several antique gems which were revamped and given new lease of life in the new set-up. Though the space looks heavily decorated, every single design element had it’s own function and purpose to serve. Right from a chappadi stone slab serving as seating bench in the balcony + ayurvedic grinding stone, to incorporating old teak window shutters into the new Pooja door, to using the old Pooja door as a partition piece, to breathing life into an old diwan, and so many other tiniest of design elements, not a single piece was for mere décor alone.
